CAS to Hold Candlelight Vigil
Candles are now on sale for the Children's Aid Society annual United Way fudraising campaign.
You can purchase your candles in person at the Children's Aid Society offices at Youthville, or e-mail Valerie Coleman-Davis for more information. Candles cost $1. On December 5, 2008, CAS will host a candlelight vigil to mark the conclusion of this year’s fundraising campaign. The vigil will also mark our deepest appreciation to Dr. Gerald Smith for his lifelong work on behalf of children, youth and families. Participants in the vigil will be asked to join us at the Woodward entrance to Youthville. A line will begin and stretch down Woodward toward West Grand Blvd. The line will also go around and stretch down Lothrop. At 6 p.m., Billie Christian, our Executive Director, will begin the vigil by lighting her candle and sharing her flame with the person next to her. That person will share his or her flame with the next person, and so on. The flame symbolizes our unity as a community and our commitment to children, youth and families in Southeastern Michigan and around the world. It also stands for our ongoing commitment to reduce youth violence in Metro Detroit.
